Since I moved to Sacramento last September for Graduate school, I have been using my (rare) free time to try out the restaurants all around Midtown and surrounding the Sac State campus. My vegetarian friend had just told me about Opa! Opa! this past week and recommended that I try it since it had yummmmmy hummus and healthy salads and other veggie dishes. Oh, and the falafals, she said, were amazing, too!! So ever since she raved about it, I knew I had to go to Opa! Opa! ASAP!! So after one of my evening classes a couple of days later, I asked a few of my grad student friends if they wanted to go with me to satisfy my craving of hummus. My Turkish and Palistinian friends jumped at the chance---and it was so close to campus! So there we were, on a Wednesday evening, eating the MOST DELCIOUS middle eastern dishes! Vegetarian or not, there's definitely something for everyone! Next time I go I'm gonna have to try the falafals, but last night I felt completely satisfied with just the plate of hummus with slices of ~warm~ pita and the "A little of this and a little of that" dish, which consisted of a bunch of different veggie sides all on one plate! The best part about my first experience at Opa! Opa! was the extremely friendly service! My friends and I ended up staying so late that we realized the servers and owner were trying to close. Instead of rushing us out, they continued to make us feel welcome and even offered us a piece of chocolate from the bakery (attached to the restaurant!). OH my goodness...I tried to share my gratitude and meant it when I said, "I'm going to tell EVERYONE about Opa! Opa!" I will most definitely be back there very soon...maybe even this weekend! =)
