I have NEVER been disappointed by a show at the Sutter Street Theatre! It's just down the street from my house and I absolutely love being able to walk out my door, stroll a few blocks to our wonderful old town and see really fantastic shows! Their kids shows are never typical fare and always wonderful. My daughter performed in one a few years back and loved the experience. Their adult shows are well chosen, well directed, and well acted. Their holiday shows are festive and fun! It's a small venue, but this theatre definitely proves the whole theory of big things coming in small packages.

My daughter is so obsessed with Pronto that she angles to get it for dinner at least three times a week. "Since we're already out, mom...", "I don't think you took anything out for dinner, mom...", "I'm too hungry to wait for you to cook today, mom...". Every one of those sentences (and myriad others) ends with "...so how 'bout we go get a few slices at Pronto?" I can't always say yes, but we are both always happy when I do. The pizza is delicious. They have great deals. What else is there?
Let's just be honest here - the Virgin Sturgeon is an odd, odd place and it isn't going to appeal to everybody. One look at their Yelp reviews and you'll see everything from it's disgusting, dirty, weird and smells like pee, with bad food to boot, to it's cozy, charming, unique and the food is delicious. The truth is somewhere in the middle. It IS unique AND it's old, worn and a tad sticky with a tiny bit of a smell that testifies to that fact, but I am one of those people who find it charming. From the oddball entrance down an old airliner jetway, to sitting on a barge on the Sacramento River, to the absolutely delicious seafood coquille they served me, I enjoyed it all, to the extent that I didn't mind the slightly musty smell. It's a must try, at least once, even if just for the experience!
