Stand Out Talent derives its name from the (thankfully) oft-heard assertion from those who’ve seen our productions, worked with our students (of all ages) or experienced their efforts: “They stand out.” Yes, we work with talented industry performers from stage, screen and the written and visual mediums, casting directors, agents; we sometimes host them, that students might receive inspiration and knowledge first-hand as we reiterate that what we teach goes beyond glory: We plant ideas, and encourage performers and audiences alike to care for those ideas as they grow throughout their lives. We work with children of all ages. With students applying for colleges. With public speakers. With veteran actors looking to broaden or refine their work. We work with Autistic performers, abused or emotionally scarred performers, and have even seen our share of performers unable to speak their names to their peers above a whisper, let alone an audience. In all of them, a transformation is made as we give them permission to explore. Permission to be themselves, to hunger, to throw themselves into their work without fear of failure; we believe the only failure is to not make a choice, that a weak choice can always be strengthened. We assure the performer that they are safe, that they will not be judged by their choices, only encouraged and inspired, as we are able, to fight to get to the truth of the Art they’re representing onstage, on camera, or the board room or at a podium before many. We ask hard questions, teaching them to be specific in what they want, to know themselves, that they’re powerfully able to convey an idea or emotion if they will apply themselves to the possibilities before them in their craft. From acceptances to the applied-for colleges, to the acceptance of awards, and the acceptance of themselves: “They stand out.”
